The National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports that 57.8 million adults live with some form of mental illness, and this is just data that has been reported . This staggering fact proves that mental health issues are inevitable and Alexander McQueen voiced this issue through his collection, Voss in 2001. The late designer’s fashion displayed that what we need is to focus on healthcare when we have a break or just need extra help. Unfortunately, he committed suicide in 2010, teaching a powerful lesson that mental healthcare is extremely important for the success of humanity. Paintful is here to uplift viewers by showing how common it is to struggle mentally, and open discussions about forms of self and health care. The collection is ultimately ending the stigma and reveal how common it is to go through the ups and downs of being human. 10% of profit will go to an organization centered around aftercare for mental patients.
